The later capital budget

English translation of the Portuguese source. A 2025 concept draft. Estimates, currencies, totals and assumptions are preserved as written, not reconciled or checked against supplier quotes.

Below is an overall capital expenditure estimate to bring the space fully into line with the FUSE.Works pitch, including the original laboratories and the additional areas and functions identified:

Category Equipment (€) Infrastructure (€) Installation (€) Subtotal (€)
Original labs 232 000¹ 127 000 76 000 435 000
Auditorium / training room 50 000 15 000 10 000 75 000
Certification laboratory 250 000 50 000 30 000 330 000
Pilot production & packaging 60 000 20 000 10 000 90 000
Mentoring rooms & offices 20 000 30 000 10 000 60 000
GRAND TOTAL 612 000 242 000 136 000 990 000
  1. The “Original labs” line starts from our earlier calculation of around €456 000 in capital expenditure (equipment + infrastructure + installation), adjusted for the exchange rate and rounded to match the “€250k+ in machines, tools and consumables” figure mentioned in the pitch.

What each column covers

  • Equipment: all machines and instruments, from industrial 3D printers and a 3D scanner to a climate chamber and a benchtop injection-moulding machine.
  • Infrastructure: light building work, floor reinforcement, dedicated electrical and HVAC installations, partitions, cabling and network points.
  • Installation: freight, unpacking, assembly, calibration and commissioning, including integration of the auditorium's AV systems and installation of test chambers.

With this budget of approximately €1 000 000, the programme will have:

  • More than 1 000 m² of space for prototyping, pilot production, an auditorium and meeting rooms.
  • A full set of equipment for prototyping, certification, small batches and demonstrations.
  • Infrastructure ready to support advanced testing and events.
  • Installation and commissioning of all equipment and support systems.

This figure covers everything the pitch requires, providing the conditions to validate designs, certify prototypes, produce pilot batches, train teams and present the startups at a demo day.
